2009 Ain’t Over Yet…

If you follow this site, you’d think that New Years was in August! everyone is talking about the end, or being finished or I’m glad that’s over! Yes it was quite the month with Mom, TJ and Amanda finishing off their training years with their “A” races.

I was lucky enough to [...]

LMS Puts In A Solid Weekend!

Great results across the board from our athletes.

On Saturday Cliff and Amanda both took age group honours (and 5th/7th overall in their respected genders) in the Meech Lake Triathlon.

Sunday a cluster f$%k of awards were given out to our athletes.  Almost all were competing in the Duncan Hadley Triathlon in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

A Week In The Life

Back at it and nothing special happened but thought I’d share a day-by-day account of my week.

TUESDAY

Run: 1:00/intervals

This winter has been tough. More ice on the road than I remember in 10 years. Took my intervals onto the shoulder of Hwy#10. Back and forth. 5 x (3′ Zone 4, 2′ Zone 1) NEW to me [...]

Second Trimester

2nd Trimester – Mar Apr May

With this Recovery Week almost over, I enter the next trimester in my “birth of an Ironman”. And I’m feeling pretty stoked. And completely terrified. Depending on the day. I look at where I’ve come from and can see my progress – this is the stoked part. I look [...]

Another week…

… under the belt. It started off with a rather rocky start … ANOTHER snow and ice storm creating havoc for running on our roads …  then some weird head/neck thing that caused a black out in the pool on Wednesday. Nothing like goin’ under to create a stir in the ol’ lanes I’ll tell [...]

Testing. Testing.

It all starts with the swim…

Last week was interesting. I was tested for Maximum Heart Rate (MHR) in my run, bike and swim. Given the interest in the process at last night’s pool swim I thought maybe others might like to hear how it was done.

Essentially, the process is pretty similar between all disciplines. [...]

Another Snow Day

Winter Storm Warning #1000

Woke up this morning to another “Winter Storm Warning” … it’s been a regular occurrence this year and I thought, “Well! I’d best get out sooner than later.”

I normally try and time my workouts so I finish up just in time for lunch. I like killing two birds with one stone [...]

On my back…

… waiting for my body to heal itself.

On My Back

So. Remember last week I was all gungho about being back in bizness? And I mentioned, ever so fleetingly, that my knee/hamstring was a bit sore after my run? Well guess what?!? It manifested into a full blown back outtage, the likes of which [...]

Last week…

… was not a good week. It seems that I have problems with slowing down. Even when my body is screaming for a break, when my muscles are crying out for a rest, when I am BONE tired, my mind wants … NEEDS … me to keep going. What’s up with that?!?

Not a Good [...]

The Glamour & The Glory

There was a piece being passed around the interwebs last week about how to make the most of your IM training:  The Six Phase Program for IM Bragging. Very funny and hits rather close to home for more than a few people I can think of. Guess I’m a rather pathetic IM candidate because I’ve [...]
