Hard Ass Day.

Plain and simple: Saturday took me to a new level of appreciation of what my body can do.  On paper the schedule looked grueling:

8:30-9:30am – Swim

10:30am-10:47am – 5K race

2pm-6pm – 3.5hr ride (4×20mins of TT intervals) + 30min run.

On Friday I literally ate and drank at every opportunity.  By the night I was like a [...]

LifeSport Camp Day 1

This is my rendition of a triathlon camp that I did out West.  I’ll be posting a piece each day this week to give people an insight into the daily adventures of a pro-triathlete.

Alright, so I’ll give anyone who is reading this a little background if you don’t know me.  If you think you do or don’t [...]

Multisport Canine-Style

After Louisville last year, I attempted multiple times to get back on the training bandwagon but each time my knee told me, “Uhm. Not yet!” It was pretty disheartening when even swimming would hurt – kick drills were verboten and an odd push off the wall could terminate a session early.

I had settled into a [...]

Power of da Leggies

Quick post but something I’ve been thinking of a lot lately.

In the fall I got a Powertap which I’ve trained with religiously since acquiring it.  First off, just by using a training tool once doesn’t tell you a whole lot of what your capable of.  Tools are: HRMs, GPS and power measuring tools.  You need [...]

The Flight Deck

Just another Saturday.  5 hours in the spin room.

My legs look twice the size of my arms!  Arnold would not be impressed with my biceps….

Cap it all off  a date with the ice bath.  Glutton for pain…

Old School

So like myself, the shoes were getting a little worn and needed some TLC. This may get into a bit of a diatribe as those that have had the pleasure to ride along side of me on a Sunday know. I’m a bit old school. I may be straight, but I’m not narrow. I’m the [...]

Quest for Upgrading

I must be getting old because I’m starting to understand this little world we live on.  My “elder age” was confirmed at my swim practice on Tuesday when a woman of about 60 said, “Let’s go get’em Grandpa!” as we began a set led by three teenagers.  Sorry Ma, you ain’t 26 any more if [...]

Fave Multisport Blogs

We all have our favourite “go to” sites when we’re in need of information – bike setup figures, swim techniques, new interval workouts – and they fill a very important role in the 21st Century athlete’s Big Bag o’Tricks, but what about blogs?

For me, there is a pretty hard set of criteria ANY reading material [...]

Vroom Vroom

Thats the sound a car should make.

If your interested I’ve decided to repair my subarus engine. Weighing the pros and cons it came out that putting a new engine was a better financial choice. Albeit a pricey one. Here was my thought list.

Pro: Rickey is a reliable car. Killer winter vehicle [...]

Santa, are you listening ???

Remember as a kid when *anything* was possible at Christmas?  Like that amazingly cool race car set that had tunnels and flips … and a million feet of track!  I hope you enjoy the following as much as I enjoyed finding them.  Maybe your Santa will be listening …

First up … your race calendar for [...]
