Pedal Efficiency

A Biomechanics way of analyzing a pedal stroke would start with, well, the pedal.  Seeing how the athletes forces were distributed around the stroke would give a clear idea where practice is needed.

Typically, most cyclists have a force pattern similar to what is shown in Image 1.  They use strong muscle forces to push [...]

Cycling Mechanics

So a triathlete walks into a bar and overhears three strangers talking about how to improve their cycling.  At the table is an engineer, a physiologist and a bio-mechanist.

The engineer says that the most important thing for any athlete is to improve their aerodynamics.  Decreasing drag will have the highest return for any cyclist [...]

Do You Choose a Sport Or Does a Sport Choose You?

Question for Week 1: What makes you determine the sport that “defines” you?

Update

Placed third overall in a half marathon this morning here in London.  I wanted to just get a running tour of the city so I signed up for this race last week.  It ended up being better than I though as I earned some cash for my troubles!

Powerbar vs. Jell-o

Why would you want to compare these too?  One is the mecca of the Ironman World while the other, a legend from the kitchen cupboard.  Well my curiosity again, got the best of me and I wanted to find out if Jell-o could be used as an “endurance” source of fuel.

Below is a [...]

Who Do You Listen Too?

Most people I know have a few sites on the internet that they check out frequently.  Each day they get updates from RSS feeds or just casually browse hoping to find some updates.  I’ve got a few that I check regularly but I want to expand.

If you have a site that follows any [...]

My first thought is to keep up [...]
