Go CANADA!!!

Crosby.  Crosby. Crosby. Crosby!

Great job Canada!  Way to going out in style!

Day 5 - Sweat Test

This was a big day.  Probably the hardest I’ve had since running the half marathon trail race in Sutton, Quebec (if you haven’t done it go try it!).

First thing in the morning was another 90min swim.  I began my day like any other, eat, pack, and commute .  The swim was again at the [...]

Day 4 - Mt.Douglas

Hump day.  This was my second last day at the camp and it was a busy one.

On this morning the weather was quite cool.  After bundling up I commuted over for the 2 hour scheduled run.  I must have been eager because I got there 20mins early.  I don’t even arrive that early [...]

Day 3 - Push It

After crashing early (8:30pm!) from yesterdays track, swim and run day, I felt surprisingly well.  A good night sleep has always been my secret to a great recovery.

On this day I got to relax in the morning.  I still got up at 6:30am to use Clint Leins (Peak Performance) computer while he was [...]

Day 2 - Sweat and Pain

Day 2 at the Lifesport Pro camp in Victoria afflicted pain very early on.  On tap was an 8:30am track session of 6 x 1 mile at 10K race pace.  A great way to kick off a Saturday morning!

My body was recovering well from the travel, training and commuting.  I got up early [...]

LifeSport Camp Day 1

This is my rendition of a triathlon camp that I did out West.  I’ll be posting a piece each day this week to give people an insight into the daily adventures of a pro-triathlete.

Alright, so I’ll give anyone who is reading this a little background if you don’t know me.  If you think you do [...]

Day 6 - Family

Workout – Rode out to my Aunt and Uncles, Caryl and Evo, who live in Shawnigan Lake.  Round trip it was about 90K.  Included was the Malahat, a ferocious climb leading out of Victoria.  Not as hard as I remember when I did it two years ago but still a great challenge.

So thats it.  [...]

Multisport Canine-Style

After Louisville last year, I attempted multiple times to get back on the training bandwagon but each time my knee told me, “Uhm. Not yet!” It was pretty disheartening when even swimming would hurt – kick drills were verboten and an odd push off the wall could terminate a session early.

I had settled [...]

Fly Away

Its less than a week away for me to visit Victoria for the Lifesport tri camp. I am in a bit of a predicament: Whats the best way to send my bike?

In the past I’ve boxed my bike up and was charged $50-100 depending on the airline.  Air Canada is $50.  Not a [...]

Training Logs - Which do you prefer?

You might remember that one of my chosen blogs is Steve Stenzel’s “Steve in a Speedo?!“? Well he’s been doing a series called “Does it Work?” reviewing tools that triathletes use on a day-to-day basis. Yesterday’s entry was Steve’s review of four online training logs … Beginner Triathlete, Buckeye Outdoors, Daily Mile, and Training [...]
