It’s a Recovery Week between big volume builds and I’m sitting here relaxing, pondering and surfing.

  • eDiscs from eLoad rock my socks. They taste like Sweet Tarts give you a boost when you need it AND are amusingly fizzy.
  • My family is irreverent, caustic and some might even say “crazy” and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
  • The crew at Precision Nutrition post some excellent articles. The current one on kid’s nutrition is rather eye-opening. Anyone up for Ryan’s challenge??
  • Oh! Just found this site: Ironman Tri Tips from two Canadian just-turned-Pro athletes, husband and wife team, Heather and Trevor Wurtele. Loved their idea for doing 45k +/- laps to figure out IM bike pacing. Aspotogan Loop on July 11-12 weekend anyone?!?
  • Does anyone else blow [insert liquid of consequence] out their nose upon reading Chuckie V? The man is my triathlon hero!
  • Could someone have a heart and let me know how to consume an energy gel without, a) cutting the corner of your mouth and b) spilling half the gel down the front of your shirt/shorts/legs? WHAT am I missing?!?’
  • Cliff forgot to itemize all the STUFF you need for IM in his cost analysis. And I’m not even talking $1500. wheelsets or high-tech Go Fast helmets! (though I do have my eye on the Giro Atmos. *swoon*) Read on.
  • I’ve been looking for a good pair of shorts to last through Ironman. A recommendation led me to Orca’s 226 Endurance line. I have a pair on order. I’ll let everyone know if they are as good as they seem.
  • Has anyone else had problems getting their C02 cartridges into their pump? Mine doesn’t seem to thread properly.
  • For the very first time last week I had the inkling that, “Y’know? I might actually be able to DO this thing!” It feels pretty good. Just in case I’m tempting the Tri Gods, please note I did say inkling.

If  you, too, are in recovery mode this week, rest hard. Otherwise, train smart.

ciao for now …
