Good weekend in Odot. Weather was perfect for doing pretty much everything. Warm skiies with a slight breeze to ward off all the bugs.
Last week was my rest week after 4 weeks of racing. I read somewhere that a perfect rest week includes lots of sleeping. Well, I checked into my bed early and stayed in late. It must have worked because by the weekend, I was ready to go!
Saturday called for some threshold training; training done at or just under my lactic threshold. The perfect remedy is hill intervals. Since speed isn’t crucial, climbing is great to push your limits. Workout was 4 x 2K climbs (on bike) followed by a quick transition to down hill runs (overspeed intervals) and then running back up the hill! The whold set was followed up by a dive in Meech Lake which was damn cold. Great for recovery!
Sunday I was out riding with the Ottawa Bicycle Club. Great to be out in a group ride. This was followed up with a run with Figs and a golf game in the afternoon. I got two birdies in golf! A first!
The big thing I learned this week is if you need sometime to rest your brain/body, sleep it off. Seriously, if your having doubts about yourself the less time you think about it the better. And what better way to not think about it than if your asleep.
Anywho, it’s a “work week” this week so I gotta get to it.
Happy Trainin!

You and Colin must be on the same wave-length. I think your LT workout is kindasorta what we’re up to on Tuesday. Joy.
I second the sleep thang. Who knew that some shut-eye could be SO restorative!
