Our club had a weekend tri-camp on April 18/19. It was our first two-day camp — the thinking was that the second day would give your body a better chance to tell you how your training was coming along.
It worked.
While there were no complaints about Monday being a recovery day, I didn’t feel as sore as I thought I would. Add a checkmark beside ‘Early season training forming a base?’
And over the weekend, each of the disciplines had a timing benchmark. I try to do this on my own, but there’s something about another athlete in the lane beside which brings out the best (or worst!).
The results — my spins sessions have made a big difference in my bike, the hill-work has helped my running and I need help with my swim.
Which is all good to know because our first race is still 6 weeks away and there’s time to tweak the training before then.
