Music for training

Cliff spinning before Moncton TT

If you are looking for some music to help with your training, the following site has upbeat, remixed music tracks you can download in MP3 format.  ( http://www.djfsg.com/ )

While DJSFG has some great music … well … its not 90 beats per second … and as every triathlete knows, you gotta get your cadence up to 90.

Gotta love the internet, ’cause there is a site that has music downloads at a variety of beats per minute (BPM).  180 gives you a 90 cadence for your bike and run.   Checkout Podrunner at : http://www.djsteveboy.com/podrunner.html .  The Podrunner Archive lists a variety of downloads at various BPMs.

While Podrunner ‘music’ will burn 90 cadence in your brain, it is not for everyday enjoyment.  If only you could mix a bit of the DJSFG with Podrunner.  Alas, once again the internet has a solution.  Check out the free music mixing software called Audacity at : http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows .  (You’ll also have todownload the LAME MP3 encoder to create a MP3 file you can use with your player.

Five minutes of your favourite music, 5 minutes of 90 cadence (sound like a warm-up?) followed by a 10 minute driving beat, 5 minutes of known songs to regroup and … and so it goes.

And if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got to get out for my scheduled run … seems I’ve been spending way too much time on my music :-0

I can attest to the Podrunner mixes – if you’re like me and have a hard time maintaining a particular cadence for an extended period of time, the beat really keeps you on focus. NOT for easy listening mix. Though I wonder what might happen if malls piped it through their sound systems … ;)

  • [...] I was trying something new today. Tom had taken my workout and created a “beat-based” (read this) music mix to run [...]
